Queens Peak

Design, Reno & Build, Interior Styling; Condo; 2017

This home was done for a repeat client who were looking to move closer to the heart of town. Although the size of this new home was about the same as their previous unit, they were also expecting their first child this time. The brief we were given was to create a casual, comfortable space with more storage to accommodate their growing family. The project was completed in two months.

Design & reno build scope

  • We built false ceilings in the communal areas and bedrooms. Ideal for small spaces, the false ceilings hold recessed lighting for a cleaner, modern look.

  • We also built a feature wall in the living room with a floating media console. A glossy laminate was chosen for the wall to brighten the area.

  • To accommodate extra storage, we designed a multi-purpose cabinet (for shoes and household items) in the narrow entryway. We also installed a functional full-length mirror to break up the cabinetry and create the illusion of a bigger space.

Notes from our stylists

  • Since we had worked with the client before, we repurposed most of their existing pieces and sourced for key pieces to meet their needs of preparing for a child.

  • A palette of whites, creams, and greys with gold accents was used for an understated, classic look.

  • We opted for curtains in the more spacious rooms and roman blinds in the compact ones to soften the blocky window structures.

  • In any small space, we usually use mirrors to help brighten and enlarge the area. We also chose materials with a reflective or glossy finish to help create a visually lighter home.
